It's Finally Hot

One thing we love about NC is that the Springtime weather lasts for more than a few weeks. We've been enjoying upper 70's to mid 80's since mid March, but that all ended yesterday as we finally broke into the 90's. At least it made the evening at the pool feel good. Swim practices have been a little chilly thus far and I had refused to get in the water until now.
I've waited to blog in hopes of some completed videos to attach of the piano recital, but Darrin promises to finish them this weekend. (It's in writing, so he's gotta do it, but I admit I've had him busy with other projects, like a garage sale! See next blog.) So much has happened. We've had a busy couple of weeks as school finished and there were end of year plays and parties. We also celebrated Preston's 4th birthday. He had an Iron Man party at the park with about 10 friends. I can't believe my baby is 4!!! Yes, he's into action figures now and the fundraiser for a new scooter was sucessful. Thanks for the donations Meme, Papa, Grandma and Grandpa!

Our family also had the exciting adventure of attending our first Durham Bulls baseball game. (Yes, the ballpark featured in the movie of 20 years ago- Bull Durham.) It's a very family-friendly atmosphere with lots of kid races, etc, between innings and a children's area with bouncies, climbing wall, slides, etc, for those 4-year-olds who can't sit still after 2 innings! We made him wait until the 6th inning before taking him over there. They played (and lost) against the Pawtucket Red Sox, so Hannah had to wear her Boston jersey and cap from her T-ball playing days. We hope to buy a series of tickets next year because the prices are way cheap!

The kids are excited that school is out for 4 weeks and it's officially summer at our house. We've met their teachers for next year and all seems promising to start 2nd and 5th grade on July 7th. Preston will be in a summer playgroup on Thursdays but he already misses his preschool. He'll attend MWF beginning in September, just in time for the girls to "track out" and he'll miss a week of school while we visit family in Texas. Yes, we'll fly out on September 12th!
Here are some pictures from the latest events. Stay cool!
Haylee was Orville Wright in the Wax Museum.

Hannah was an army ant and an explorer in her class play about the rainforest.

i can't believe he's FOUR! In fact, i was just thinking about the two of you today while I was at WalMart doing a marathon shop, and wishing I didn't have Peyton with me. It reminded me of how you preferred shopping without him when you first moved to NC. We sure miss Carolina, and, yes, even swim team! How are the girls liking it?
