GO USA!

I love the olympics. I hate how little time I have to watch the games. I love having DVR. I hate how my 4 year old thinks he owns the remote and doesn't appreciate the rest of the family's desire to watch the events.

We've had our own way of keeping the olympic spirit alive in our house this past week: It's International Food Week. We love to eat, so it works beautifully in reminding the kids of where some of our favorite foods have come from. Our menu has consisted of:

a traditional English meal of roasted chicken, potatoes, peas and bread pudding (this was in coalition with Haylee's Harry Potter party)
Taco Salad, Taquitos and quesadillas
Lasagna, Tomato-Basil Pizza (fresh from the garden)
Teriyaki Chicken, Ramen Noodles, potstickers
French Toast with Canadian Bacon
and good ole American Hamburgers, of course!

I plan to make some Smoked Sausage with German Potato Salad and maybe some Chicken Cordon Bleu as the week continues.

*If you have a good, but easy, international food recipe for me to try, please pass it on.*

What a diverse world. It's almost too much for the brain to comprehend all of the different cultures, customs and foods that are on this planet. The media can bring much of it to us. We can visit other countries, as I've had the opportunity to do, and appreciate our similarities and differences first hand. I have to end by saying that I'm so grateful to live in the U.S.A.!
